2973

While I was in New Jersey visiting some family this weekend we stumbled upon this 9/11 memorial in Atlantic Highlands. The Verrazano Narrows Bridge and the New York City skyline can be seen from the park where this memorial is located.

The sculpture is an eagle carrying a twisted piece of steel from the World Trade Center towers. I grabbed a hold of the steel beam and plucked it like a guitar string. It held a high note for about 10 seconds while I stared at it and remembered that day.

The path leading to the memorial has markers for the significant times of that morning.

KP - Franklin Football, Thanksgiving Game

King Philip and Franklin played for the Hockomock League championship on Thanksgiving morning. It was a close game (Franklin won 20-13), and it would have been much better if KP came up with the win. Anyway, it was nice to see the KP football team have such a good season, and though Franklin has been the enemy since I attended KP in the early 90's I do have to give them some credit. I counted 6 or 7 of their players wearing the Xenith X1 helmet. I work for Xenith and remember seeing 12 helmets assembled and shipped out to Franklin high school late this Summer.

Next year I want to see KP win the Hockomock league while wearing more X1's than Franklin. :)

Business Trip Scenery

I was on a business trip this week and I was able to work some photography into my busy schedule. Phoenix, Sacramento, Denver, and Nebraska were the destinations. It's nice to have a job that helps support my photography addiction.

Leaves

Finally the weather was nice enough to show off the foliage. There's been a string of rainy days and wind that has combined to strip the trees of colored leaves so far. For a couple of weeks there have been trees that have no leaves on them and trees that only have green leaves, but now there's some good color showing up near where I live.

Foliage and an Endangered Bridge

The foliage is just getting started in New England, and I've heard and read a lot about how great it should be this year. Something about how having rain nearly every day in June is going to make the colors spectacular. We'll see.

This next photo shows off Memorial Bridge in Portsmouth, NH. It connects Portsmouth and Kittery, ME, giving people driving along Route 1 a way to get across the Piscataqua River. Take a look at this website to read about it's endangered status.
