Patriots Training Camp: Day 1

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/07/DSCN0728-sm-thumb.jpgI took a short drive from my house to Gillette Stadium to watch the first Patriots training camp practice this morning. There were a couple of large cranes inside the stadium (the practice fields are behind the stadium) that were taking apart the stage from last night's Bon Jovi show. No Bon Jovi sightings at practice, though.

I'm no expert at evaluating training camp, but everything seemed to be going well. It was just basic drills and basic plays, but that's what you'd expect for a first practice. The only thing that stood out to me was that Richard Seymour was not there. Turns out he is on the physically unable to perform list. Deion Branch was not at practice either, but most Patriots fans know that he's holding out in hopes of getting a bigger contract.

Bill Belichick had the bulky grey sweatshirt on, but had it turned inside out so that the lighter colored inside was facing out.... I guess that makes the heat and humidity more tolerable when all you wear is that one sweatshirt.

At the end of the practice, Tom Brady jogged over to the fans lined up along the edge of the field and signed autographs for about 5 or 10 minutes.

Hopefully the flash slideshow of the photos I took today will be loaded and ready to go by the time you've finished reading tihs.......

Patriots Training Camp Tomorrow

Tomorrow I'll be heading over to Gillette Stadium in the morning to take in the first Patriots practice of the season. There will be some familiar players missing, but there are some new guys who have the potential to be big time players.

Anyway, come back to this site tomorrow afternoon to get a look at some training camp photos.

Thunderstorms

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/07/Lightning2-thumb.jpgThere have been a few thunderstorms rumbling through tonight, so I decided to grab my video camera try to get some video that I could share with all of you. Here are two short videos of lightning that I took a little while ago.

Another Flower

Yeah, another flower. If you're not into flowers then check back here in 11 days for Patriots training camp photos.

Stuff

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/07/DSCN0551sm-thumb.jpg Here's a picture I took last night. I was trying to get a shot of a star through the tree on the left, but when I took a look at the series of photos I took on my computer screen, I ended up liking this one that has the sihouette of my house and the tree. You can see the star I was trying to capture if you look closely through the tree.

More exciting photos will be here soon. New England Patrtiots training camp starts on July 28th and I will be there. Then you'll be able to check here for stories and plenty of photos.

If you haven't already, click on the appropriate links (to your right) to subscribe to this blog. You'll be happy you did.

Fireworks (a little late)

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/07/fireworks2006-1sm-thumb.jpg

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/07/fireworks2006-2sm-thumb.jpg

Last night, I heard a fireworks finale from my house. Tonight, I heard fireworks again and quickly looked on the internet to see if I could find out where they were. Turns out they were in the town next to me, and I was able to run (literally) up the hill to the golf course across the street from my house and got a couple of good shots from the 9th fairway.

Click and enjoy!

4th of July

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/07/DSCN0382-crosshatch-thumb.jpgI spent the holiday weekend in New Hampshire... did a little hiking, a little boating on the ocean, some sight seeing, and of course I took a bunch of photos.

One of the places I went to visit was Nubble Light in York, ME. I walked all over the rocks by the water to get all different angles while I was taking pictures. The wind was blowing hard enough to make me lose my balance once or twice, but I survived. I spent a little time applying photoshop effects to the photo you see in this post, and I think it looks pretty damn good.

I'm thinking that I might take this photo and my photo of the Gay Head Cliffs light from Martha's Vineyard to make a matted and framed product for the lighthouse lovers out there.
