Another Trip

This upcoming trip is a relatively short one to Niagara Falls at the end of April. I was last there about 4 1/2 years ago when I had a fairly low end digital camera. I'm excited to get back for some better photos. While I'm there I'll be posting the photos I take on this site each night. I'll post another story here to let you know when those photos are ready to look at.

Hopefully in a couple of days I'll be showing off some nice matted photo sets that will be available for you to buy. They'll be great for decorating your home, office, summer house, etc.

With prom and graduation season coming up, I will be available to photograph that special day for you. Please get in touch with me through the contact section of this site if you'd like to hire me or to ask me any questions you might have.

One last note... I submitted my information so that Greg Burt Photography will show up in the Verizon superpages. If you're here you already know about me, but hopefully that will get me some more exposure.

Published

A guy I know in my home town is running for the Board of Health. I took his picture earlier this week for campaign purposes and it showed up in the local weekly paper today. The local daily paper, The Sun Chronicle, will be printing a candidates profile with the same picture sometime within the next week. This worthy candidate's name is Bob Davis, and if you live in Plainville, MA, make sure you vote for him.

It's Spring

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/03/swan-sm-thumb.jpgAccording to the calendar, it is now officially spring. I've been going on hikes for most of the winter, and today was my first hike of the spring. I got a few photos of Canada Geese and a few of a pair of swans. I slipped in the mud and fell flat on my back while making my way down the hill to the pond where the swans were hanging out, so I hope you appreciate the physical stress I went through to provide you with today's photo.

Martha's Vineyard

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/03/lighthouse-thumb.jpgI've been doing a bit of thinking about the places I'd like to photograph this summer. Last summer, I drove across the U.S. and that was a lot of fun, but I'm not in a position to do that again this summer. But I am up for some time on Martha's Vineyard. And the lighthouse you see here is a photo I took 2 summers ago, which is the last time I was on the Vineyard. It's a very nice island, especially if you do a little research to find out where you can go to avoid the crowds and traffic.

St. Patrick's Day Celebration

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/03/livecoverage-thumb.gifI will be spending St. Patrick's Day night at The Blackstone in Cumberland, RI watching those wild and crazy guys... Live Coverage. They are an outstanding cover band. You should go see them.

I'll probably drag my camera along so I can hone my band photography skills. I should probably find something green to wear, too.

The Blackstone is at 129 Mendon Rd. You'll have to find directions online somwhere (as will I) because I don't know how to get there.

Just Another Test

http://www.gregburt.com/blogimages/2006/03/Crazyhorse-thumb.jpgI'm just playing around with all the settings and customizing the code for the blog.

I think I have everything customized just the way I want it to be now, which means I can start looking through my archives to dig up some nice photos to post here.

With this new system in place, please let me know if you find anything that's not right or if you find something that just doesn't work. It should be all set, but if there is a problem I'd like to know so I can fix it. Thanks.

A Photo

I'm testing out a new way to add pictures via the blog. This one is the Custom House in Boston.

RSS Feed is Working

I think I figured out why the RSS feed wasn't working with My Yahoo!. It seems like I just had to be patient while it was added to their directory. Anyway, it's all ready to go and if you'd like to add the headlines of this site to your personal Yahoo! or Google pages, just click on the appropriate links on the main page. If you've got some other blog reading or news reading site, the XML file is there, too.

Ah, and here's a photo I took almost 3 years ago. It's the dorsal fin of a basking shark in Cape Cod Bay. The shark actually swam right under the 20 foot boat I was on, and it was at least 2/3 the lenght of the boat. Pretty cool stuff. View image

Kind of a new look

I learned how to get this blog thing to look and act the way I want it to, so here's what you get.

There is an RSS feed available for this blog, if you're into that kind of thing, though I haven't been able to get it to work with My Yahoo! yet. I'll post an update here when I get that part all figured out.

This is where I'll show off new photos and let you know where my photos are going to be published.

And everyone is welcome to leave their comments about anything I post here... just click on the link that says "comments" at the bottom of the post to view what other people have said and to leave your own words for the world to read.

That's about it for now. Enjoy.

Welcome

I'm trying out this new blog style front page for the website. It may not be very exciting to you, but it'll make it a lot easier for me to put news and updates on the site.

Also, you can comment on each post I make here if you've got something to say about it.
